Resume | July 30th, 2009

After years of avoiding work on this document, I have finally completed a new resume that represents who I am and the kind of work that I love to do. My resume is best viewed as a pdf, but I’ve also posted it on the Resume page of this site.

I found inspiration for the layout and design in this list of 36 Beautiful Resume Ideas That Work. I was especially taken by a resume design by Kevin Fox and I used it as a jumping off point for mine.

I did have a lot of good feedback and encouragement from many patient friends. I want to specifically thank Cara for her coaching support and Cornell for his tough love (one of the things he said about my old resume: “the resume makes it sound like you are young, and that you do not think particularly deeply about your work, and perhaps you are simply a drone.”). I was especially pleased by Cornell’s comment about my new resume:

Your resume presents an optimistic attitude, projects confidence and demonstrates style. It reflects a person who shapes their life, not one who merely lets their life happen to them.

Zahra, it’s great to yet another story of someone who’s boosted their confidence using those beautiful resumes. I hope you get just enough interviews from it to find the job you want.
