I have created responsive, mobile-friendly websites for a variety of clients including a chocolate shop, a non-profit, and a wellness coach. All clients have seen and increase in customer reach and/or sales since the launch of their websites.

Hedonist Artisan Chocolates www.hedonistchocolates.com
Hedonist is a gourmet chocolate company located in Rochester, NY, specializing in handcrafted truffles and chocolate treats. My partner and I started this company in 2007. The company’s first eCommerce website (designed and built by yours truly) was starting to show its age and no longer met the needs of the growing company: it was not stable, nor mobile-friendly, and it could not integrate the company’s existing WordPress blog. I researched and identified Magento as the best eCommerce platform for the company’s requirements, then found a developer to do the implementation. I created wireframes to communicate the design and we worked together to make it happen. The new website has been very well received and ranks better in the search engines, the site regularly generates over $50k in sales each year.
Highland Art Center www.highlandartcenter.org
Highland Art Center is a non-profit organization in Weaverville, CA that showcases and promotes local and regional artists and artisans; assist these artists in advancing their careers and helping make art central part of their community. The organization had been making do with a one-page website cobbled together by the director. They needed a robust and mobile-friendly design to promote their mission, gallery shows and member artists. I built a responsive WordPress website using the Thesis framework that met all of their requirements, including a calendar to promote monthly shows and Art Walk opening receptions. I did this work pro bono as my yearly donation to a local charity.
“Without Zahra Langford’s professionalism and generous donation of her time and expertise, our small, non-profit art gallery wouldn’t have been able to redesign our website. Zahra educated us about utilizing widgets and tools which allow us to maintain a stunning, new site and fulfill our mission of promoting local artists and artisans.”

Hedonist Artisan Ice Cream www.hedonisticecream.com
Hedonist added a gourmet ice cream shop adjacent to their chocolate shop in Rochester, NY in 2012. I designed the ice cream website and had it implemented by a WordPress developer. The website was functional and beautiful but it was not mobile-friendly. In 2015, I moved the site to the Thesis framework and replicated the design in a responsive template. I also trained new staff members to create optimized blog posts. The new site ranks higher in Google and looks sharp on a variety of mobile devices.
Kimberly Piazza www.sistakimba.com
Kimberly Piazza is an award-winning contemporary artist living and working in the mountains of Northern California. The majority of her artwork definitely reflects her interest in issues affecting the environment and the world’s state of affairs. Kim has been producing more work lately and entering her work in juried art exhibits. She found that she was often overlooked because she did not have an easy way to share her body of work. I created a highly customized responsive design on the WordPress platform using the Thesis framework, that featured her unique style and allowed her to demonstrate the depth and breadth of her work.
“Zahra designed a beautiful website for me! As an visual artist, I was not at all interested in a cookie-cutter website. Zahra was able to turn my non-techie ideas into the website I was dreaming of. Zahra’s questionnaire was an especially useful exercise in that it enabled me to crystalize my intention and vision for my website. Zahra is both very professional and a lot of fun to work with. I feel her services are a great value. I highly recommend her!”

Buddhi Institute www.buddhiinstitute.com
The Buddhi Institute is a “nomadic” venue of classes, programs, and events that offers opportunities to deepen spiritual practice and expand awareness. The organization’s coaching helps students cultivate peace and a state of radiant joy. The first Buddhi website was built by the company’s founder Melinda, using Microsoft Front Page. When her web host discontinued FrontPage support, she needed to transition the site’s content to a modern platform that would support her plans for expanding the business. I created a new, responsive WordPress site using the Thesis framework and integrating WooCommerce to add eCommerce functionality. Melinda then modified the design to her specifications. She is now able to promote and sell her courses online and use the website to grow her business.
